I am all about upcycling, and repurposing and I have this old wooden ladder that has seen better days. My husband insists that it is totally still usable (he is 6’4″), but I suspect it will not hold on for much longer…..plus I already have another use for it :) I will admit that it is a purely decorative and indulgent use, but nonetheless I want to use this old ladder as a faux library ladder. Yes, it will rest up against my entirely too small, built-in bookcase, however, the vision is tres chic! While I’m waiting, I’ve found some other uses for old ladders, so I thought I would share.
Well, I definitely had to add a photo of a library ladder, which was the inspiration in the first place for this post, bravo! Okay, one more thing about my project….I actually get two uses out of my old ladder because it is too tall to even fit upright in our living room, so I am definitely thinking about the other ideas I’ve found about re-purposing ladders. So the first photo, from House Beautiful, depicts a rickety old ladder as the trusty holder of fine jewels and delicate linens, which could be artfully displayed near a vanity or in a bathroom or dressing room. Also, a small or partial ladder can be used to hang towels or clothes or newspaper, etc. pretty much anywhere you want.
The ladders used in the kitchen as a shelf or a pot rack are great ideas that add a little extra texture and dimension into any kitchen. There were a lot of other ways to use ladders that were fine, like ladders as plant stands, or as art, but nothing else really stuck out too much. Have you or do you intend to use a ladder in your decor?
