Our happy plants
The Florida summer sun can be brutal and we have witnessed some of our crops take a turn for the worst because of scorching. So we came up up with a solution that only took a couple hours to complete! It all started on a bright sunny day, when my in-laws had purchased a bamboo fencing for part of our fence, since we will be watching their dog for a while.
We came up with a different solution for the dog a few days later and my hubby and I (like a month prior) had talked about filtering the sun light over our crop garden. Enter bamboo fencing solution! We got some outdoor, pre-treated lumber from The Home Depot, along with some deck screws and went to work ;) I was afraid that I would be immensely disturbed by the “Tiki-ish” nature of the bamboo fencing, but I am pleased with the results (for now, lol).

8 foot long, pre-treated lumber

Frame almost complete

Deck screws, zip ties, reed fencing and lumber

Done and done.
It was hard attach a straight structure to a crooked base (the planters are not on level ground, I’m sure you can tell in the photos), but with a level, some measuring and a bit of “eye-ing it,” we were able to achieve fairly decent results!

ugh! You guys are so cool. Megan and I have been doing some serious work on our house. Nothing nearly as impressive as the stuff you two pull off but it’s a start.
