outdoors diy Worth a Try: Fly Repellent

DIY, Non-toxic, Fly Repellent

I came across this home remedy on Pinterest today and decided I would share.  I had never heard of repelling flies this way, but apparently a lot of people have!  It is just a plastic bag,  half-filled with water, and a penny; you hang it up around an area where you don’t want flies and voila.

The article said it had something to do with the flies eyes and the reflection of the water in the baggie.  They were not sure about why the penny helped, but I think I will go ahead and try this in my yard this weekend.  I enjoy eating outside, but then you have to battle for your food with flies, so we’ll see if this really works ;)

This is not the most attractive thing ever, so I will have to experiment with placement since I am not sure what the range is on this trick.  Do you know of any other home remedy fly repellents? Have a great weekend!
