Furniture is just “there”

I went over to my friend’s home yesterday to hang out and also to do some rearranging.  Here are 3 tips for making adjustments to your space when you have a home full of goods that you’ve either bought or acquired from family.

  • Survey your space and think about what’s working and what’s not working.
  • Ask yourself tough questions (Should I keep this?  Is this a collection I want to have?).
  • Play with your furniture/space:  move pieces around, even to places where you don’t think they should be and you could end up with a really great layout or it may spark another placement idea.

Furniture placement looks intentional

Notice the A/C vent (which I think is in one of the worst places the builders could put it) and how the desk is not blocking the airflow so that it can still function and yet it is not a barren area because of a poorly placed vent. Yes, the desk will need to be shifted to replace the filter, but you should not base your placement of furniture solely on where outlets, switches, vents, etc. are located in your home ;)

The mirror still needs to be hung, but you get the idea ;)
