Sometimes you discover pieces of furniture on Craigslist that look amazing, but these 3 things should always be considered when deciding what is worth your time and effort (if they are not already stated in the description):
- “What are the dimensions?” — This is very important to know for any furniture item coming into your home. Size DOES matter when configuring pieces in a room
- “Is this from a smoke-free and pet-free home?” — This is critical when purchasing upholstered goods, textiles, mattresses and rugs. Items from a smoke-free and pet-free home, in general, tend to have less damage. If you have pets or smoke and don’t mind purchasing items from similar homes, than this is optional, otherwise steer clear.
- “What is the price and is it flexible?” — This is optional. Many times it is already an extremely good deal and so I think it’s mutually beneficial to just pay the “ticket” price, but sometimes you have to try to get them to go lower and that’s ok, you just have to be willing to walk away if the price is too high.
